We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer Sports/Casino to lead the development and optimization of backend integration architecture across sportsbook and casino platforms, ensuring secure, compliant, and scalable communication with external providers and mission-critical systems.
As a Senior Backend Engineer focused on Sportsbook and Casino Integrations, you will play a key role in designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining robust, scalable backend systems that ensure seamless communication with external sportsbook and gaming providers, risk/fraud systems, CRM platforms, and regulatory systems.
You will act as a subject matter expert for external system integrations, ensuring secure connectivity, reliability, performance, and compliance. Beyond hands-on development, you will provide technical guidance, mentor junior developers, contribute to architectural decisions, and help define integration standards and best practices. Your work will directly influence platform stability, revenue enablement, user experience, and strategic growth.
You will collaborate closely with product, security, DevOps, QA, and external partners to deliver high-quality integration solutions that support business expansion, innovation, and operational excellence.
Core Technical Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain backend services and microservices for third-party gaming integrations.
Architect scalable, reliable integration flows with high availability, low latency, and resilience under load.
Implement secure APIs and services (REST, WebSockets) and own the full integration lifecycle, from technical analysis and development to deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
Develop middleware and adapters to handle data transformation, protocol differences, and compatibility, ensuring proper error handling, failover, and graceful degradation.
Integration & Partner Collaboration
Act as a technical point of contact for integration partners.
Review third-party documentation and participate in technical alignment discussions.
Ensure integrations meet regulatory, legal, and security requirements relevant to the gaming industry.
Performance, Reliability & Security
Drive performance testing, optimization, and observability across integration services.
Ensure secure-by-design implementation, data protection, and compliance standards.
Identify architectural risks and proactively implement improvements.
Quality & Engineering Contribution
Define and maintain integration testing strategies and support complex troubleshooting and incident resolution.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor developers, and contribute to architectural decisions and backend best practices.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of hands-on experience in backend engineering, with strong expertise in designing and maintaining scalable production systems.
Proven experience integrating complex third-party systems and external APIs.
Background in iGaming, fintech, or other high-traffic, transactional platform environments is strongly preferred.
Nice to Have
Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for deploying and managing backend services in cloud-native environments.
Familiarity with MySQL HeatWave or other high-performance database solutions for real-time analytics and optimization.
Exposure to Machine Learning concepts and their practical application (e.g., fraud detection, risk scoring, player behavior analysis).
Hard Skills / Technical Competencies
Strong expertise in Golang (primary language); additional experience with Java, Node.js, or Rust is a plus.
Solid background in software architecture and distributed system design.
Strong experience with integration-focused architectures and patterns, including REST APIs, WebSockets, message queues, and event-driven systems.
Hands-on experience with RabbitMQ, Redis, and scalable caching/session strategies.
Proficiency with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized deployments.
Strong understanding of SQL-based solutions (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and performance optimization.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).
Deep understanding of secure communication protocols, authentication models, encryption, and data protection standards.
Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments is a plus.
