This year’s summer Vyking Workation brought together 29 very excited team members from across Europe to the stunning mountain town of Schladming in Styria, Austria . The focus? Team building, fitness, well-being—and letting some fresh mountain air fuel some big ideas.
As always, we had a packed itinerary designed to make the most of our time together. Mornings were reserved for hands-on workshops, while the afternoons were all about adventure, bonding, and taking in the jaw-dropping Alpine scenery.
Day one kicked off with our first morning workshop, where each Vyking was assigned to a team and challenged to explore and present the full lifecycle costs—from player acquisition to operator performance, all the way through to platform infrastructure. Let’s just say it got competitive very quickly.
In the afternoon, we took a short drive further north into the Alps to visit one of the trip’s highlights and seriously ‘cool’ adventures: Eisriesenwelt, the largest ice cave in the world, stretching over 40 kilometers deep into the mountains. Getting there was an experience in itself. After climbing to an altitude of over 2,000 feet above sea level, the team suited up in warm jackets and grabbed fire lamps for the chilly descent into this frozen wonderland.
Also known as the “World of the Ice Giants,” the cave is tucked into the Tennengebirge mountain range and feels like stepping onto another planet. Discovered in 1879, it’s a surreal underworld of glittering stalactites, icy columns, and frozen chambers shaped by nature and time. The two-hour guided tour wound through shimmering passageways, with each turn revealing a new jaw-dropping formation. We wrapped it up with a team photo looking out over the valley below—definitely one for the memory books.
