As a Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading and scaling Vyking’s engineering organization, ensuring the delivery of secure, high-performing, and scalable platform solutions within the fast-paced iGaming industry.
In this role, you will work closely with Product, Operations, DevOps, Data and commercial stakeholders to align technical execution with business priorities, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. You will help balance innovation and delivery speed with platform stability, security, scalability, and operational resilience in a highly dynamic and regulated environment.
You will lead and support engineering teams across backend, frontend, and DevOps functions, driving technical excellence, collaboration, mentoring, and continuous team development. The role also includes ownership of engineering processes, technical delivery, resource planning, cross-functional coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
Working closely with our CSA, you will contribute to architectural planning, strategic technology decisions, platform modernization initiatives, and engineering best practices, helping Vyking continue to evolve as a scalable, reliable, and competitive technology partner within the iGaming market.
Define, drive, and execute the company’s engineering strategy in alignment with business objectives, platform priorities, and client requirements.
Lead and scale the engineering organization across backend, frontend, DevOps, platform, and infrastructure functions.
Ensure the delivery, stability, scalability, security, and operational resilience of large-scale platform environments within a high-availability iGaming ecosystem.
Oversee platform performance, system reliability, scalability initiatives, and operational continuity across distributed systems and production environments.
Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, Commercial, Support, Data, and executive stakeholders to align technical execution with business priorities and delivery expectations.
Contribute to architectural planning, strategic technology decisions, platform modernization initiatives, and long-term engineering direction together with senior technical leadership.
Drive engineering governance, delivery management, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
Establish and improve engineering workflows, delivery standards, release processes, prioritization structures, and technical communication practices.
Oversee technical risk management, platform security initiatives, compliance alignment, and technical debt reduction activities.
Ensure engineering operations and platform environments comply with relevant security, operational, and regulatory requirements within the iGaming industry.
Manage engineering resource planning, department capacity, budget allocation, and delivery prioritization across multiple initiatives and teams.
Monitor engineering KPIs, operational performance indicators, delivery efficiency metrics, platform health, and service reliability standards.
Support client-facing technical discussions and ensure engineering delivery aligns with customer expectations, operational requirements, and commercial commitments.
Manage relationships with third-party vendors, service providers, and technology partners, including oversight of external integrations and platform dependencies.
Stay informed on emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory developments to support innovation and maintain competitive platform capabilities.
Lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers, team leads, and technical specialists while fostering a high-performance engineering culture.
Oversee hiring, onboarding, coaching, mentoring, and performance management processes across the engineering organization.
Promote a culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration, continuous learning, transparency, and pragmatic problem-solving across teams.
Ensure effective cross-departmental communication, stakeholder alignment, and transparent reporting on engineering initiatives, delivery progress, and operational priorities.
Act as a leadership role model by supporting company values, professional conduct, organizational resilience, and sustainable team development.
A bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
A master's degree or higher in a technical discipline or business administration (MBA) is a plus.
8+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles within technology-driven organizations, including experience managing software engineering teams in complex, high-availability environments.
Previous experience as a Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, Director of Engineering, or similar senior technical leadership role is highly preferred.
Strong experience building, scaling, and maintaining large-scale distributed platforms with focus on scalability, reliability, security, and operational stability.
Experience working with high-throughput, real-time production environments operating on a 24/7 basis.
Strong experience leading cross-functional engineering organizations including backend, frontend, DevOps, platform, QA, and infrastructure teams.
Experience collaborating closely with Product, Operations, Commercial, Support, Data, and executive leadership stakeholders.
Experience balancing technical priorities with business goals, operational requirements, delivery timelines, and platform stability.
Experience within the iGaming industry is considered a major advantage, particularly in areas such as online casino, sportsbook, PAM, payment systems, platform operations, or game integrations.
Strong understanding of modern software architecture principles including distributed systems, microservices, APIs, cloud-native environments, and event-driven architectures.
Strong expertise in scalable platform engineering, system reliability, fault tolerance, performance optimization, and operational resilience.
Advanced knowledge of cloud infrastructure and modern engineering environments such as AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD ecosystems.
Experience with DevOps practices, infrastructure automation, observability, monitoring, and incident management processes.
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle management, Agile methodologies, engineering workflows, and release processes.
Understanding of platform security principles, secure software development practices, infrastructure security, and operational risk management.
Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements relevant to the iGaming industry, including GDPR, PCI DSS, licensing requirements, and sensitive data protection standards.
Experience working with engineering and project management tools such as ClickUp, Jira, Confluence, Trello, or similar platforms.
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate engineering KPIs, platform performance, operational metrics, and delivery efficiency.
Strong leadership and people management capabilities with the ability to build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams.
Excellent strategic thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to align technical direction with business objectives.
